Nontraditional Student Week Banner

In November, the College of General Studies celebrated Nontraditional Student Week. In conjunction with this event, CGS held an Essay Contest inviting CGS students to share their story and address the following questions:

  • What motivates you as a student?
  • What was the moment you knew you wanted to go back to school?
  • What does earning a degree mean to you?

A committee of four judges reviewed the submissions anonymously, and we are now pleased to announce the winners of the competition:

1st place: Giving My Moments Meaning by Jerald Donaldson (CGS’24)

2nd place: The Fight for Purpose by Harsh Hiwase (CGS’25)

3rd place: Not All Roads End by Colleen Kelly (CGS’23)

Congratulations to our winners and THANK YOU to all who participated in the 2021 CGS Essay Contest!
