The College of General Studies offers academic programs designed with today’s marketplace and the busy adult learner in mind. Our programs are practical, flexible, and convenient, while maintaining the rigor you’d expect from a renowned research university like the University of Pittsburgh.

Career Focus Areas
Choose from ten professionally focused, flexible, and practical liberal arts undergraduate majors in areas such as justice and legal studies, professional communications, natural sciences, public service, and social sciences. Many offer pathways to advanced degrees, including pre-med options and five-year bachelor's and master's degree programs.
Why not add a certificate to your degree, or use the credits from a certificate toward a future degree? Open to all University of Pittsburgh students, certificates are available in a variety of career-oriented disciplines. Our students also have the opportunity to earn certificates offered through other schools at the university.
