The Bachelor of Arts in Law, Criminal Justice, and Society explores how law and the justice system shape, and are shaped by, society.
Build a strong foundation in criminal law, criminology, and criminal justice ethics while examining issues such as forensics, cybercrime, legal psychology, law enforcement, corrections, and civil rights.
This interdisciplinary program prepares you for graduate study and careers in law, public policy, advocacy, and justice-focused professions serving diverse communities.

Bring together perspectives from law, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, policy, and other fields to understand complex issues affecting individuals, institutions, and communities.

Jointly offered by the Dietrich School and the College of General Studies.
Study on campus with select courses available online.
An internship is not required, but strongly encouraged for practical experience.
Typically completed in 2–4 years depending on transfer credits and course load.
Approved police academy certification may qualify for transfer credit.

What You Can Do With This Degree
An LCJS degree prepares you for careers across criminal justice systems, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and graduate or professional study in law and social sciences.
Criminal Justice
Explore roles in public safety, law enforcement, corrections, and community supervision, including Police Officer and Probation Officer.
Research & Analysis
Apply research and analytical skills to understand crime patterns, evaluate programs, and inform investigations and public policy, including work as a Crime Analyst.
Law & Advocacy
Support individuals and communities navigating legal systems and pursue pathways toward law school, legal advocacy, and justice-focused professions.

Advanced Degree Option
Master of Studies in Law (MSL)
Students in the Law, Criminal Justice, and Society (LCJS) major in the College of General Studies may obtain the MSL degree through a program where credits earned in the MSL program also count toward the bachelor's degree.
