Business and Health Services Double Degree

The College of General Studies (CGS) and the College of Business Administration (CBA) offer a double degree program in which students earn both the BA in Health Services through CGS and the BS in Business Administration (BSBA) through CBA. The double degree program is designed for students who are interested in the intersection of health care management and business administration.

Program Requirements

To earn a Business-Health Services double degree, a student must complete a minimum of 150 credits, including:

Flexible Course Formats and Course Overlaps

The CGS Health Services BA program offers a blend of face-to-face and flexible online class formats, all designed to meet our students' needs and schedule constraints. Visit CGS Courses to learn more about our flexible offerings and how to search for classes in the course catalog.

In addition, as a double-degree Business-Health Services student, you will be able to overlap up to six credits between the two majors as well as requirements for select general education categories. When substitutions to any Health Services requirements are made, you will be able to choose elective health-care focused courses to fulfill the 33 credit hours required for the Health Services major. As a student in CGS, you will further have the opportunity to work closely with a CGS advisor to select the Health Services electives most appropriate for your educational and career goals.

For more information, see attached outline of CGS general education and Health Services program requirements (PDF). CBA students, your previous coursework will be evaluated for transferability by the Student Records Office upon admission to CGS.

Timeline for Completion

Program completion time will vary and can take as little as four years or five or more years, depending on transfer and/or advanced standing credit and whether a student is enrolling on a full-time or part-time basis. Students must see advisors for both majors and develop a detailed course plan showing that you can complete all double degree requirements within your desired or established timeframe.

Admission

This program is open to current CGS and CBA students. In order to receive proper advising and to ensure the timely completion of all requirements, it is highly recommended that students declare the double degree by the time they have accumulated 65 to 75 credits. Candidates interested in the double degree must meet the admission requirements of both schools.
