Sarah Quesen is a statistician and psychometrician with experience in educational measurement, applied research, and emerging technologies. She teaches in the Department of Statistics at the University of Pittsburgh and serves as Director of Assessment at WestEd, a national nonprofit focused on improving education and learning outcomes. She leads WestEd’s assessment portfolio, which includes assessment design, content development, psychometric research, scoring and reporting, and assessment literacy. Her research focuses on advancing modern psychometric methods that strengthen the validity of scores and better engage learners. Previously she was a senior research scientist at Pearson, where she served as lead psychometrician for large-scale assessment programs. Earlier in her career she was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Statistics at West Virginia University.
