Kimmy is a Pittsburgh native and third-generation graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned masters in applied linguistics and public policy & management. She holds a doctorate in education, with research interests in inclusive design, the learning sciences, and second language acquisition and instruction. She has extensive work experience in TESOL, teacher training, instructional and training design and development, educational program management, and the development and evaluation of curricula and assessments. Her career has taken her around the world, including roles as an English language instructor in Austria and the United Arab Emirates in addition to various universities across Pittsburgh and online (to reach learners in low-resource areas). A strong advocate for accessibility, educational access, responsible EdTech use, and research-informed teaching and design, Kimmy brings a deep commitment to inclusive and effective education to her role at CGS. Her teaching currently focuses on academic, technical, and scientific writing.
