Internal Transfer Students

Continue Your Journey with CGS

Flexible Programs. Personalized Advising. Seamless Credit Transfer.

Current undergraduate students at the University of Pittsburgh — whether on the Pittsburgh campus or a regional campus — who are interested in one of CGS’s degree programs may be able to transfer directly into CGS if they meet minimum academic requirements.

Eligibility

Pittsburgh Campus Students

  • Currently enrolled in good standing at the University of Pittsburgh
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Completed at least 12 credits in your current program
  • Completed foundational coursework, including Math and Seminar in Composition, with at least a C‑ grade

After acceptance:

  • CGS will evaluate your previous coursework and determine which courses fulfill CGS skills and general education requirements
  • To graduate from CGS, you must complete at least half of your major while enrolled at CGS

Regional Campus Students (Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, Titusville)

  • Currently enrolled in good standing at the regional campus
  • Completed foundational coursework, including Algebra and Seminar in Composition, with at least a C‑ grade
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Completion of at least 45 credits overall, with a minimum of 30 credits at the regional campus

Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who would have been directly admissible to the Pittsburgh campus as freshmen, may be considered for transfer with fewer completed credits.

After acceptance:

  • CGS will review your transcript and evaluate which courses can be applied toward your new degree
  • You will need to complete a substantial portion of your major while enrolled at CGS

How to Apply

  1. Complete an Academic Program Change Form with your current advisor or dean’s office
  2. Your advisor or dean will forward the request to CGS for review
  3. CGS will review your information and notify you of the final decision via your Pitt email

Tip: Certain CGS majors may have additional admission requirements. Check program information carefully before applying.
