Join us for a special evening bringing together CGS alumni and students to share experiences, foster fellowship, build connections, and create new opportunities. Our keynote speaker is Jumoke Davis, a six-time Emmy Award-winning producer, director, and CGS alumnus.

Mix Candle Co. Event
Make your own candle or perfume — for free! All CGS students are invited to join us for a DIY candle or perfume-making experience. FREE DIY Candle or Perfume.
Meet & Greet: Carey Treado, Public Service and Non-Profit Management Director
Join us for pizza and conversation about the Public Service and Non-Profit Management program! Meet our new program director, Carey Treado, to discuss courses, career goals, and your experience in the program. CGS Student Government will also be available to answer questions about student organizations.

Financial Aid Workshop
We're collaborating with the Financial Aid Office and the Financial Wellness Center to host a virtual workshop with CGS students. Keep your eye out for a future email with the date, time, and Zoom link!
Narcan Awareness Tabling
Join us at our Narcan awareness tabling outside of the McCarl Center (next to the home plate in Posvar Hall) where you'll have the opportunity to learn more about Narcan while winning FREE prizes (umbrellas, sweatpants, and more)! Stay tuned for details.

Don't miss your chance to enter CGSSG's annual multimedia contest! We're still accepting submissions until Sunday, February 15, and cash prizes of up to $500 are up for grabs. All CGS students are invited to submit creative projects (film, photography, art, creative writing, or any other medium) that showcase how your CGS education is helping you achieve your personal, academic, or career goals.

Students who participate will get paid $20 to reward them for their time (shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes). This paid opportunity doesn't end in January - submit anytime.

December
Finals Survival Kits
We know that finals are coming up, and we've got your back! Pick up a free finals survival kit (goody bags filled with liquid IV, popcorn, hot chocolate, fidget toy, and more) sometime during finals weeks. All you have to do is stop by the McCarl Center (first floor of Posvar Hall next to the home plate) and tell the staff member at the front desk, Ms. Sandy, that you're a CGS student who's picking up a finals survival kit.
Food Drive
In collaboration with Pitt Eats, SGB, and many other Pitt departments, we're collecting non-perishable food items until December 13. All items will be donated to the Pitt Pantry, and Pitt Eats will match every donation! There are multiple locations for you to drop off donations all across campus, so please consider contributing to this important cause!
Warm Clothing Drive
In collaboration with SGB, we're also having a warm clothing drive! If you have any items such as jackets, gloves, hats, and scarves, please consider donating these to support our Pitt community. Drop off locations for donations include the Academic Advising Center (201 Thackery Hall), the Study Lab, and SGB's office (WPU 8th floor).

We invite all CGS students—traditional and nontraditional alike—to participate by submitting creative projects that explore how their CGS educational experience is helping them achieve their future personal, academic, or career goals. Submissions can include any creative medium (film, photograph, art, creative writing, etc.).

This isn't an official graduation ceremony, but it will be a chance for you to celebrate your accomplishments with your friends, family, and CGS community! There will be catered food, CGS swag, and more, so join us in congratulating our CGS students who are graduating this year!

Build Your Brand—Learn How to Be a Social Media Ambassador
Do you want to learn more about becoming a social media ambassador? Want to help promote brands and their products? CGSSG will be hosting a casual, interactive event meant to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and network on how to become a social media ambassador. From Doritos to skin care companies, we have students who've promoted multiple brands who will share firsthand tips and tricks! This may be especially useful for those of you majoring in Media and Professional Communications, and we'll also have someone from the Career Center there to give you advice on how to land an internship!
CGSSG Friendsgiving
Join us for a FREE Thanksgiving meal brought to you by CGSSG. This is a casual, fun event for CGS students, so feel free to come and go. You don't have to stay for the whole time, and you can bring a friend with you as long as you complete the RSVP!

Let's promote self-care in relation to mental health awareness. Stop by to grab some free self-care items, participate in the basket raffle, and have some relaxing community time before midterms!
Halloween CPR Training Event
Join us for a Halloween-themed CPR event! There will be CPR demos, hands-on practice, and "trick or treat" style stations with prizes and FREE candy.

Are you looking for a paid leadership position? Do you want to help advocate for students in your CGS major? If so, apply to be a CGS Student Ambassador!
CGSSG & Global Experiences Workshop Series
Workshop 1: Exploring Study Abroad — Whether you're a traditional or nontraditional student, rest assured that CGS students are more than capable to study abroad! Come join us to hear about a presentation exploring study abroad opportunities AND listen to a student panel made up of CGS students who have previously studied abroad.
Workshop 2: Funding Study Abroad — A huge barrier and deterrent to studying abroad is related to costs and finances. We hear you, and that's why this workshop is meant to help navigate step-by-step how you can finance your study abroad experiences. We'll share scholarship opportunities, Pitt-sponsored awards, and more. There will be representatives from the Gilman Scholarship program, the VIH program for Women in Global Leadership, and more!
Space is limited and spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so register today! Please RSVP for one or both workshops. Refreshments provided. REGISTER by Sept. 24.

CGS Student Government is excited to announce the 2025 CGS Student Government Choice Awards! If there is a faculty or staff member who has inspired, mentored, guided, or supported you throughout your undergraduate years in CGS, please nominate them for a Student Choice Award. These awards will be given out at the Excellence Reception on Tuesday, April 8th. The deadline to nominate a faculty or staff member is March 24th.
This is our annual celebration, where we honor the dedication and achievements of our students, faculty, and staff.
