I completed my dissertation in 2023 titled "Before and After Title IX: The Persistent Entanglement of Race and Gender in Women's Collegiate Sport, 1892-1992." Broadly, I am interested in how the development of collegiate sports, both men's and women's, intersected with changing ideas around race and gender in higher education in the 20th century. My dissertation compared the histories of two universities in Tennessee--one predominantly white and one HBCU to assess their histories of sports and how Title IX functioned as an inflection point for women's sports. I also completed a master's thesis in 2018 comparing the history of youth soccer academies in the United States and the United Kingdom in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
