Margarita Delgado Creamer, PhD

  • Religious Studies | Dietrich School & CGS

I received my PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, and thus I am a very proud Pitt alumna! Prior to my doctoral studies, I did an MA at Queen’s University. I also pursued graduate studies in Chinese Philosophy and Religions at the University of Nanjing and stayed on living and working in China for several years.

I have taught courses on Asian religions at Chinese, Peruvian and Philippine universities and since 2016 I have had the great pleasure of teaching at Pitt. My main research areas include the transformation of Buddhism in cultural encounters, Buddhism and ethics, and material religion. My most recent research focuses on Latin-American Buddhism, most especially on the intersection of the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges literary work and Buddhism.
