Natalia Duarte-Mayorga

  • Sociology | Dietrich School

I am a PhD candidate in Sociology. My research focuses on the intersections of armed conflict, peacebuilding, and organizations, with a particular emphasis on gender relations, collective political behavior, and inequality in contexts of postwar governance. My dissertation examines the demobilization trajectories of former guerrilla fighters in Colombia following the 2016 peace accord. This research has been supported by multiple fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh and an ASA Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant. I also lead and co-author quantitative projects on gender equality in public administration with colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In Colombia (my home country), I collaborated with NGOs on a range of projects, including state-building and the legacies of civil war and victimization, as well as an international study of drug trafficking and corruption in Latin America.
