Degrees
Students with an Undergraduate Degree
If you already have a bachelor's degree, you can take undergraduate courses to prepare for graduate school or to earn a second undergraduate degree. Some students wish to take a credit course without enrolling in a degree or certificate program. This is also possible.
Preparing for Graduate School
We'll get you on the right track to the graduate program you seek. Through the College of General Studies, you can take prerequisites or other courses you need prior to entering graduate school. You simply need to complete an application. You do not need to submit transcripts or a personal evaluation. Admission can be granted immediately upon receipt of your completed application and application fee. You will then be eligible to register for classes immediately.
Earning a Second Undergraduate Degree
If you have already completed a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution, you can pursue a second undergraduate degree in one of our ten majors.
The ten majors available for a second degree at the College of General Studies are Administration of Justice, Dental Hygiene, Health Services, Humanities, Legal Studies, Liberal Studies, Media Communications, Natural Sciences, Public Service, and Social Sciences.
Courses for Credit
Perhaps you are changing your field and need a course or two. You can take University of Pittsburgh credit courses without enrolling in a degree or certificate program. Students who wish to pursue courses for credit must apply for admission to the College of General Studies.
